Booking a facial is an amazing step toward healthier, glowing skin, but how you care for your skin before and after your treatment can make a big difference in your results.
Whether you're prepping for your first Hydrafacial or a more intensive treatment like microneedling, follow these pre- and post-facial skincare tips to get the most out of your experience and keep your skin looking its best.

🗓 Pre-Facial Skincare Tips (2–3 Days Before)
1. Avoid Exfoliation
Put away the scrubs, peels, and retinoids a few days before your facial. You don’t want your skin to be sensitive or over-exfoliated prior to treatment.
2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Drink plenty of water to help your skin stay plump and ready to absorb all the benefits from your facial.
3. Skip Harsh Products
Avoid any strong actives (like retinol, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid) that could irritate your skin before your treatment.
4. Don’t Book After Waxing or Laser
If you’ve had recent waxing, laser hair removal, or any aggressive treatment, wait at least 48–72 hours before having a facial to avoid irritation.
5. Arrive with a Clean Face
If possible, skip heavy makeup on the day of your facial and arrive with clean skin — this allows your esthetician to start the treatment immediately.

✨ Post-Facial Skincare Tips (Next 48–72 Hours)
1. Avoid Touching Your Face
Your skin is freshly cleansed and treated — avoid touching it to prevent transferring bacteria and causing breakouts.
2. Skip Makeup for 24 Hours (if possible)
Let your skin breathe. After treatments like Hydrafacial or microneedling, your pores are open and more absorbent — give them time to heal and benefit from the facial.
3. Use Gentle, Hydrating Products
Stick to a simple routine: cleanser, hydrating serum, moisturiser, and SPF. We recommend Dermalogica’s post-treatment products to keep your skin calm, nourished, and protected.
4. Avoid Sun Exposure and Heat
Stay out of direct sunlight, hot showers, saunas, or intense workouts for at least 24–48 hours. Your skin is more sensitive after a facial and needs time to recover.
5. No Picking or Exfoliating
Don’t pick at your skin or use exfoliants right after a facial — even if you had extractions. Let your skin heal naturally.

🌟 Keep the Glow Going
Your facial doesn’t end when you leave the treatment room! Think of it as a reset button for your skin, and how you care for it afterwards determines how long your glow will last.
Want to lock in your results? We can recommend Dermalogica skincare tailored to your skin type to help you maintain that fresh, radiant look every day.
